Quota advice 2018

Quota advise 2018 – Arctic stocks

ICES (The International Council of the Exploration of the Sea) has published the quota advice for 2018 for the demersal fish stocks in the Barents Sea and along the Norwegian coast north of 62°N.

Northeast Arctic cod

Recommended TAC 2018: 712 000 tonnes
Recommended TAC 2017: 805 000 tonnes
Agreed TAC 2017: 890 000 tonnes

Northeast Arctic haddock

Capelin at Iceland/Greenland/Jan Mayen

ICES advise that when the harvest control rule agreed by the Coastal states is applied, the initial quota in the fishing season 2017/2018 should be zero tonnes. The initial quota should be revised based on in-season acoustic survey information in autumn 2017. The final TAC should be set on the base of survey information in autumn 2017 and winter 2017/2018.
