The procurement policy for the Institute of marine research is intended to ensure that laws and regulations governing public procurement are complied by the entire institute. It is particularly important to ensure that the interest of predictability, transparency and verifiability is maintained throughout the purchasing process. 

Procurement rules are intended to ensure a systematic, accurate and uniform treatment of requests, and the ordering of goods and services to ensure equal treatment of the institute's suppliers.

IMR will follow public procurement regulations to ensure that the government funds are used in the best cost-effective and socially beneficial way. It is also imperative that all purchases through the public sector are done to ensure the development of a good and competitive business environment.
