Research shows an association between eating seafood and a reduced risk of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. However, this is a complex question, and it is hard to be sure whether there is a causal link between the two things.
The seafood we eat must be safe. The Institute of Marine Research monitors the levels of undesirable substances in wild fish, bivalves and crustaceans. We also analyse undesirable substances in fish feed and farmed fish on behalf of the Norwegian Food Safety Authority.
