Arbeidsområde
Jeg arbeider med bunndyrssamfunn i subarktiske og arktiske marine havområder.
Barentshavet er mitt spesialområde hvor jeg, i lag med mine Russiske kollegaer fra PINRO, har brukt de Norsk-Russiake økosystemtoktet til å utviklet et langtids overvåkningsprogram for endringer i utbredelse og fordeling av bunndyr. Dette brukes i miljøovervåkningen i Forvaltningsplanen for Barentshavet og Lofoten, i arbeidsgrupper i Atktisk Råd (CBMP_marine), ICES (WGDEC) og i FNs WOA II rapporten og publisert i en rekke per-reviewed journaler. I samarbeid med Fiskeridirektoratet fikk Havforskningsinstituttet i oppdrag fra Fiskeri- og næringsdepartementet å vurderer tilstand og vern av bunndyr i det nordlige Barentshavet. Med hjelp fra våre data er nå mer enn 400.000 km2 nå tentativt stengd for bunntråling i Barentshavet.
Jeg arbeider også med bunndyrslivet i nord Norske fjorder. Porsanger fjord i Finnmark, Nord Norge, er mitt spesialområde.
Emner som inngår i mitt arbeid med bunndyr er: kartlegging, produktivitet, bærekapasitet, beiteområder for fisk og evertebrater, effekter fra klimaendring, bunntråling, og beiting fra invasjonsarter som snøkrabbe.
